Air Canada Beefs–Up Portland Schedule
Synopsis: Montreal–based Air Canada this week announced new non–stop flights between Portland International Airport (PDX) and Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada (YYZ). The new service starts June 17th and will be flown using Embraer 190 regional jets.

Baggage Claim Relocates For Some San Jose Travelers
Synopsis: Effective Tuesday, February 2nd passengers arriving at Mineta San Jose International Airport’s (SJC) Terminal C will pick–up their luggage at the Terminal B baggage claim area. This change will affect travelers arriving on the following carriers: Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, Horizon Air, USAirways, and Frontier Airlines.

Recalled Vehicles Gone At Avis Budget
Synopsis: Avis Budget Group (ABG), one of the world’s largest rental car providers, has removed all affected cars and trucks from its fleet as a result of Toyota’s recent recall. ABG says customer impact should be minimal. Other rental car companies will be eliminating these vehicles from their fleets also.

Bye-Bye Northwest
Synopsis: Delta Airlines has completed the integration of its reservations system with that of subsidiary Northwest Airlines. As a result, tickets will no longer be issued bearing Northwest flight designations. In addition, anyone attempting to access nwa.com will now be redirected to Atlanta, GA–based Delta’s website. Fond farewell Northwest Airlines!

United Improves Award Options
Synopsis: Chicago, IL–based United Airlines has made changes to its MileagePlus frequent flyer program. MileagePlus members now have the option of using miles to obtain one–way trips or using a combination of miles and money to purchase their tickets.

Romance Is Alive And Kickin’ At Kimpton!
Synopsis: Kimpton Hotels and Resorts is once again offering its “Rub The One You’re With” romance package, available just in time for Valentine’s Day! The promotion runs through March 31st and includes deluxe overnight accommodations, a bottle of champagne, and a take–home massage kit.

Body Scanners Now In Place At Heathrow
Synopsis: Full body scanners are now being used at London’s Heathrow International Airport (LHR). Travelers will be randomly selected to pass through the controversial imaging devices. Passengers who decline to be scanned will be denied boarding.
